We are honoured to have received an Australian Road Safety Award in a ceremony at Parliament House, Canberra yesterday.
The School Programs Award recognises road safety programs that work to improve road safety awareness and practices.
BusSAFE is very much a collaborative effort, led by the bus industry and developed by a group of passionate bus operators and road safety educators. We gratefully acknowledge the contribution of the South Australian Department of Education, the NHVR, the BIC, the Bus Association Network and bus operators around Australia who have embraced the program as safety leaders in their local areas.
Speakers including Senator for Queensland Anthony Chisholm, Assistant Minister for Regional Development, and ARSF Ambassador and Supercars Champion Craig Lowndes at the 2025 ARSF awards in Canberra.
It’s estimated that over 2 million students use buses to travel to and from school daily. BusSAFE was developed to address a specific niche in road safety education: safe student bus travel. Ours is the first nationally co-ordinated initiative of this type in Australia. By teaching practical, preventative safety strategies at grassroots level, we aim to improve student welfare on buses and foster habits that support a lifetime of safe travel choices.
This award means a great deal to a small program like ours! We are so grateful to the Australian Road Safety Foundation for the recognition.
